My Garden Angel

Hi everyone Steph Ackerman here today with my newest Paverpol project I've called My Garden Angel.

My Garden Angel stands guard in a perfect spot in my garden.

I began by covering the paper mache figure with paper towels that I coated with Transparent Paverpol.  I find the paper towels are a nice way to create texture when creating with Paverpol and paper towels are very forgiving. 

Once she dried, I mixed 2 parts Transparent Paverpol and 1 part Paversand in a container until I had a nice smooth consistency.

I painted a light layer of the mixture on my figure.  Once she dried, I painted on a second layer.  This mixture created a hardened figure that can stay outside.

Next, I used Pavercotton dipped in Transparent Paverpol to create her hair which I wrapped around her face and draped across her torso.  I wanted a whispy look so I pulled and separated the Pavercotton while it was still wet.

I added some Antique Gold Pavercolor to Transparent Paverpol and applied to her hair for some color.

Once she dried, I added a cameo on her chest and some buttons along the bottom edge of her dress.

She now stands guard in my garden.

Fun With Paverplast!

Let's have some fun with Paverpol's Paverplast!

 

We got to have some fun with 2 Paverpol products that I

have not used before...Paverplast and Paversand.

This month we received a box containing a few items to create with...think of the food

show Chopped...we got Paverpol transparent, the plast, 

sand, some Paver powder and form...then we get to create something using the products.

I chose to cut my form so that I could have a flat back piece.

Mixing 500g of transparent PP and 100g of PP Plast I created a stiff mixture

to cover the form with..I saved an old bucket to mix and store the

compound in.

I wanted to add the sand in as well as some of the PaverColor so

I put it in a smaller container so I could get the consistancy where I wanted it.

The PaverColor turned it gray rather than antique gold...

so I think I messed up adding it in at that point.

I covered the half form with my mixture...since I wanted it to look more like

a dress, I left the long lines in it.

I left it to dry for almost 2 days, then started to paint.

I used 4 different shades of gold. It is hard to get that in a photo but

in person you can see the different shimmers.

After that dried for a half day I added black...wiping most of it off.

 

While the form was drying I started on my canvas.

Taking a 12 x 16 canvas I used PP Cotton and transparent PP

to attach to the canvas.

 

 I used some gold sprays to add some color to the cotton.

Using transparent PP I attached it to the canvas.

The picture of the wings turned out horrible...but using a printed copy of digital

wings with a piece of plastic over it I "drew" the wings with

PP in a bottle and before drying I added glitter and PP Color.

I also added 2 scriptures about Angels.

A Lighted Angel

Hi!

Today I want to show you an angel I made using 

lace, beads, tulle, masking tape, aluminum foil and lights.

OH and a bit of Paverpol!

 A friend of mine was looking over my shoulder as I was perusing Pinterest..

checking out all the amazing creations that have been made

using the Paverpol product. Upon seeing an angel she asked

if I could do that.

OF COURSE I replied....inside thinking all I can do is try.

I started out with the basics...making a head and torso with aluminum foil

and masking tape.

 This was my first try...

As you can see I added a clay mask to the face.

Looks good right?

Well it was not going to work.

I could not get the arms to go down where I wanted them.

I tried to heat them...which worked a bit but the face started to get melty.

Then I tried to snip under the arms and snipped a bit to far.

So I decided to try to make it in pieces.

The reason I needed the arms together was I wanted her to be holding a

light BUT the bodice of the dress has beads and is thick.

After I attached the bodice piece I added the arms using some Paverpol and

a little piece of wire. I notched the hands in the back so the light could come up behind the skirt 

and attach to the hands.

Kinda got ahead of myself but it all worked together.

So I found a piece of lace I fell in love with...cut it to the size I wanted, sewed the

top to make a gather and then laid it out to be covered in PP.

At this point I also added a layer of tulle to give the underside more

support for the light strand to attach to.

 

I only waited until it started to harden..about 2 and half hours so that it

could be attached to the torso and molded the way I wanted.

I missed a few steps I wanted pictures of...the inside where the lights

were attached and of the wings but we are way passed that now!

This was before the wings and hair were added.

I didn't like the front hang of the skirt so I heated it up,

 then pulled and stretched to get it right.

VIOLA no wrinkle at the bottom!

Have I said how much I love working with this product!

I added the wings and hair using the transparent PP as well.

You can see where the PP has not completely dried on the hair...but once it 

did it looked amazing.

This was my first real try at painting a face...that is 

the only thing I wish turned out better!

She ended up being about 18" tall and has 55 lights.

I may just make one for me!
